Q.1 (A) Read the passage carefully and answer the questions that follow: (1×10 = 10)

Pollution is one of the most serious problems that the whole world is facing today. It is the result of human actions that harm the natural environment. Pollution comes in many forms, including air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and noise pollution. Each of these types affects not only the environment but also the health of all living beings.

Air pollution is caused by harmful gases and smoke released into the atmosphere, mainly from vehicles, factories and the burning of fossil fuels. It can lead to respiratory problems and contributes to global warming. Water pollution occurs when waste materials, chemicals and plastic are dumped into rivers, lakes and oceans. This affects aquatic life and makes the water unsafe for drinking and daily use.

Soil pollution results from the excessive use of pesticides and the improper disposal of waste. It reduces the fertility of the soil and affects plant growth. Noise pollution, caused by loud sounds from traffic, construction and industries, can lead to stress, hearing loss and sleep disorders.

Human activities like deforestation, industrialization and overuse of natural resources have increased pollution levels. If not controlled, pollution can lead to severe damage to the planet. However, there are solutions. Planting more trees, using public transport, recycling waste and reducing plastic use are some of the steps we can take to reduce pollution.
