Class 10 Board Exams: Punjab suspends 2 officials involved in examination malpractices

Chandigarh, March 19, 2025: Cracking a whip to uphold educational integrity in the state, the Punjab School Education department today suspended two teachers deputed as a Superintendent and an Invigilator at Government Model Senior Secondary School (Boys), Gurdaspur (Examination Centre-241251) for their involvement in examination malpractices during the ongoing class 10 board examinations.
This strict action was taken by the department on the directions of S. Harjot Singh Bains, Minister of School Education, Punjab.
S. Bains informed that the Punjab School Education Board's Flying Squad teams uncovered a serious breach of examination protocols at Government Model Senior Secondary School (Boys), Gurdaspur.
During the Class-10 English examination conducted on March 17, the flying squad discovered that Invigilator Kirandeep Kaur, a Hindi Mistress, was improperly soliciting answers via WhatsApp on her mobile phone to assist students.
This flagrant violation occurred under the watch of Examination Centre Superintendent Ashwani Kumar, Lecturer, who negligently permitted mobile devices inside the examination hall.
"Our government remains steadfast in its mission to provide qualitative education and ensure the sanctity of our examination system," stated Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, adding that such transgressions undermine the very foundation of fair assessment and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Consequently, both officials have been suspended with immediate effect. During their suspension period, they will report to the District Education Officer, Gurdaspur, his office has been designated as their headquarters.
The School Education Minister directed the officials of Education Department to further intensify vigilance by constituting additional special teams and increasing the number of flying squads to root out malpractices and conduct examinations with absolute transparency and fairness.
"The Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government is committed to fostering an educational environment where merit alone determines success," added Education Minister Bains. Any deviation from this principle will face strict punitive action, he added.

ਸ. ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਡਲ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ (ਲੜਕੇ), ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰੋਟੋਕੋਲ ਦੀ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਦਾਫ਼ਾਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜ਼ਿਕਰਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ 17 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਈ ਦਸਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਦੀ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਨੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਨਿਗਰਾਨ ਕਿਰਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਜੋ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਮਿਸਟ੍ਰੈਸ ਹੈ, ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਫੋਨ ‘ਤੇ ਵੱਟਸਐਪ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਮੰਗਵਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ। ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਰਡੈਂਟ ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਲੈਕਚਰਾਰ, ਦੀ ਡਿਊਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਤਾਹੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਲਾਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਵਰਤਦਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਹਾਲ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਹਰਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਡੀ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਨ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਸ਼ਨ ’ਤੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਹੈ।’’ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਤੇ ਬੇਨਿਯਮੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਅੱਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਮੁਅੱਤਲੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ, ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਕਰਨਗੇ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੁਅੱਤਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈੱਡਕੁਆਟਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਵਾਧੂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਗਠਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਦੀ ਨਫ਼ਰੀ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਾੜੇ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਖਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ।
ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਿੱਦਿਅਕ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਿਰਫ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਹੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।’’ ਉਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਿਧਾਂਤ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਟਕਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
