Punjab Government Announces Emergency Cabinet Meeting for Today
Chandigarh, 20 March 2025 In - The Punjab government has issued a notice for an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers to be held today, March 20, 2025, at 7:30 PM . The meeting will take place at the Chief Minister's residence in Chandigarh.
There is chaos in Punjab after the police removed the farmers' protest from Shambhu and Khanauri border. Farmers have come on the highways. So far, clashes have taken place between the police and farmers at 3 places.
The barricades put up at Shambhu and Khanauri borders are being removed. According to the police, the Delhi-Jammu-Amritsar highway which has been closed for 13 months will be opened for traffic as soon as the barricades are cleared.
Here, the police has shifted farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal to the PWD Rest House in Jalandhar Cantt, which is under the control of the Army in Punjab. After being taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon, he was first taken to PIMS Hospital in Jalandhar City.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has called an emergency cabinet meeting at 7 pm today.
According to the notice, issued by Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha on March 19, 2025, the agenda for this crucial meeting will be released at a later time.
The notice has been addressed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, all Cabinet Ministers, and the Special Principal Secretary/Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, requesting their presence.
