The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the 19th edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on July 7, 2024. The test will be conducted in 20 languages in 136 cities across the country.

  • Online application start date: March 7, 2024
  • Last date to apply online: April 2, 2024 (11:59 PM)

Here are some of the key points to remember about the CTET:

  • It is a mandatory test for individuals who want to teach in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8 in India.
  • The CTET is conducted twice a year, in July and December.
  • The test is divided into two papers: Paper I for teachers of Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper II for teachers of Class 6 to Class 8.
  • Candidates can appear for both papers or either of the papers, depending on their eligibility.

QUALIFICATION FOR CTET PAPER 1 ( PRIMARY CLASS)

Senior Secondary (or equivalent) degree with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appeared in the final year of the two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)

QUALIFICATION FOR CTET PAPER II ( PRIMARY CLASS)

Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks and passed or appeared in the final year of the two-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or four-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed.

Exam pattern for CTET 2024 follows:

Exam Mode: Offline (Pen and Paper)

Number of Papers: 2

Duration of Each Paper: 2.5 Hours

Number of Questions in Each Paper: 150

Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect answers
