*MLAs, MC Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner conduct inspections in areas surrounding buddha nullah*
*Residents of Chander nagar, New Deep Nagar laud efforts of MLA Bagga, MC Chief for avoiding waterlogging in their areas*
*Temporary disposal installed at Dhokka Mohalla to expedite process to pump out accumulated water*
*With water level in buddha nullah starting to recede, authorities stated that accumulated water from the few affected areas will be pumped out in a day or so.*
Ludhiana, July 14:
For taking stock of the situation, Ludhiana North MLA Madan Lal Bagga, Ludhiana MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi, MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal and Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik conducted inspections in areas surrounding Buddha nullah on Friday.
During the inspection, residents of Chander nagar, New Chander Nagar, New Deep Nagar among other areas appreciated efforts of MLA Bagga and Municipal Corporation led by MC Commissioner Dr Aggarwal for avoiding waterlogging in their areas.
MLA Prashar, MC Commissioner Dr Aggarwal and DC Malik conducted a joint inspection in Dhokka Mohalla area and stated that the accumulated water will be pumped out in a day or so as the water level in the buddha nullah has started to recede.
MLA Prashar stated that a temporary disposal has been installed at Dhokka Mohalla point of buddha nullah especially to expedite the process of pumping out accumulated water. In addition to that, pumps are also being used to pump out accumulated water.
The officials also discussed steps which can be taken to avoid water logging in the area.
Earlier, Ludhiana North MLA Bagga and MC Commissioner Dr Aggarwal conducted inspections in different areas of Ludhiana North constituency situated alongside Buddha nullah.
Residents of Chander Nagar, New Chander, Deep Nagar among other nearby areas lauded the efforts of MLA Bagga and Municipal Corporation (MC) led by MC Commissioner Aggarwal due to which waterlogging was not witnessed in their areas this year. This is despite the rise in the water level of buddha nullah.
Residents of Chander Nagar and New Chander Nagar stated that it is the first time in the last 25 years that rain water has not accumulated in their area despite the rise in the water level of Buddha nullah.
The residents stated that they had also witnessed floods in 1988 and rain water has been entering their houses in past years too. But no water accumulation has been witnessed in the area this year. They lauded MLA Bagga and MC senior officials for monitoring the situation round the clock.
Similarly, residents of New Deep Nagar lauded the efforts of MLA Bagga and MC Commissioner Dr Aggarwal as no waterlogging was witnessed in their area this year, despite the rise in level of Buddha nullah and incessant rainfall witnessed in the recent past.
The officials also visited the buddha nullah point near New Kundanpuri and directed the civic body staff to further strengthen the banks of the nullah.
MLA Bagga and Dr Aggarwal stated that it is a joint effort and thanked the residents for their support during the challenging situation witnessed in the last few days.
The officials stated that even as the water level in the nullah has started to recede, the authorities are continuously monitoring the situation.
