Punjab Government Orders Major Administrative Reshuffle
Chandigarh, February 27, 2025 - The Punjab government has announced a significant reshuffle of its administrative officers, issuing transfer and posting orders for several IAS and PCS officers with immediate effect. The orders, issued by the Department of Personnel, cite "administrative grounds" as the reason for the changes.
Key highlights of the reshuffle include:
- Shri Vishesh Sarangal, IAS (2013), previously serving as Deputy Commissioner of Moga, has been transferred to the Department of Housing and Urban Development as the Chief Administrator of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), SAS Nagar.
- Shri Sandeep Kumar, IAS (2015), who was serving as Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies, Punjab (Admn.), has been appointed as the Chief Administrator of Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA), Ludhiana.
- Shri Abhijeet Kaplish, IAS (2015), will continue as Deputy Commissioner of Sri Muktsar Sahib, and will also hold the additional charge of Director Mines and Geology against a vacant post.
- Shri Sagar Setia, IAS (2017), currently Additional Secretary, Higher Education & Languages, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Moga, replacing Shri Vishesh Sarangal.
- Shri Ojasvi, IAS (2020), formerly Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Faridkot, has been transferred to the Department of Housing and Urban Development as Additional Chief Administrator of GLADA, Ludhiana.
- Shri Amarinder Singh Malhi, PCS (2016), Deputy Secretary, Justice, has been appointed as Additional Chief Administrator of GMADA, SAS Nagar.
The order also states that officers who have not been assigned any specific posting are required to report to the Secretary, Personnel, and their posting orders will be issued later. The concerned authorities have been instructed to make internal arrangements for the disposal of work in the positions that have fallen vacant as a result of this order.
The orders, signed by KAP Sinha, Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab, have been circulated to various departments and officials for information and necessary action. This administrative reshuffle is expected to bring about changes in the functioning of key administrative bodies in the state.
