During the proceedings, Mr. Charanpreet Singh, the Additional Advocate General (AAG) of Punjab, stated that the state has already undertaken steps to address these concerns as per a prior order in a related case (*Satya Parkash Khanna and Others vs. State of Punjab and Others*), decided on July 11, 2024. He assured the court that within six months, the issue of releasing arrears to retirees, especially those from aided institutions, would be resolved with a detailed speaking order.
Justice Sethi emphasized that the petitioners, being senior citizens, should not face undue delays. The court warned that any failure to comply with the order within the stipulated time could lead to serious consequences, including the initiation of suo moto contempt proceedings against the responsible officials.
The petition was subsequently disposed of, with the court acknowledging the state’s commitment to resolving the matter swiftly.
