Now Women Becoming Mothers Through Surrogacy Will Also Get 6 Months of Leave

Central government ammended Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972. Now Government women employees who become mothers through surrogacy (hiring a surrogate) can now avail a maternity leave of 180 days.
The central government has amended a 52-year-old rule related to surrogacy. After the amendment in the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, male employees who have children through surrogacy can also take 15 days of paternity leave.
Surrogacy and adoptive mothers will both get 180 days maternity leave
As per the revised rules issued on June 18, women who have children through surrogacy and adoptive mothers will both be entitled to 180 days of maternity leave. However, these rules will be applicable to children born through surrogacy and adoption after the amendment date. Additionally, the biological father will also be entitled to 15 days of paternity leave within six months of the child's birth.
This amendment provides much-needed support and equality to women opting for surrogacy and adoption, ensuring they receive the same benefits as those who give birth biologically.

ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਜੋ ਸਰੋਗੇਸੀ (ਕਿਰਾਏ ਦੀ ਕੋਖ) ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਂ ਬਣਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਹੁਣ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ 180 ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਟਰਨਿਟੀ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਸਰੋਗੇਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ 50 ਸਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਨਿਯਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਧ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਸਿਵਲ ਸੇਵਾ (ਅਵਕਾਸ) ਨਿਯਮਾਵਲੀ, 1972 ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਧ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਸਰੋਗੇਸੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੱਚੇ ਹੋਣ 'ਤੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀ ਵੀ 15 ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਛੁੱਟੀ ( paternity leave) ਲੈ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
18 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਸੋਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਰੋਗੇਸੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਾਂ ਬਣਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮਾਵਾਂ ਦੋਨੋ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੇਵਕ ਹੋਣ 'ਤੇ 180 ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਟਰਨਿਟੀ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ, ਇਹ ਨਿਯਮ ਸੋਧ ਤਾਰੀਖ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜੰਮੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਈਲਾਜਿਕਲ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਛੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ 15 ਦਿਨ ਦੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਛੁੱਟੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ
