Punjab employees challenge applicability of central pay commission

Employees appointed after July 2020 in various departments of Punjab have challenged the applicability of the central government's 7th Pay Commission in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The employees argue that the 7th Pay Commission is less beneficial than the 6th Pay Commission of Punjab.
The plea was filed by 440 employees who were appointed in various departments of Punjab. They said that after their appointment, they were being given the benefit of the central government's 7th Pay Commission instead of the 6th Pay Commission of Punjab.
The employees said that the new system of the Punjab government would lead to a big difference in their salaries. They have demanded that the new system be quashed and the old system be restored.
The High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government seeking its reply on the petition.
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁਲਾਈ 2020 ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ 7ਵੇਂ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਫੈਸਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਣਾ ਹਾਈ ਕੋਰਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੁਣੌਤੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਰਕ ਹੈ ਕਿ 7ਵਾਂ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ 6ਵੇਂ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਲਾਹੇਵੰਦ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ 440 ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਾਇਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਯੁਕਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ 6ਵੇਂ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ 7ਵੇਂ ਤਨਖਾਹ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਮੁਲਾਜ਼ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਨਖਾਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਫਰਕ ਪਵੇਗਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਵਾਂ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਸਿਸਟਮ ਬਹਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।
ਹਾਈਕੋਰਟ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪਟੀਸ਼ਨ 'ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
