Punjab Announces New Curriculum for First Grade Students :
The Punjab government has announced a new curriculum for first grade students in all primary schools across the state. The new curriculum, called Vidya Pravesh, focuses on the all-round development of the child, with a special emphasis on language and mathematics skills.
The Vidya Pravesh teacher's manual is a PDF document that will be shared with teachers. The manual outlines 12 stages of activities, each with a QR code. The activities are designed to help students adjust to the classroom environment and develop foundational language and math skills.
The progress of the activities will be evaluated at three stages:
- baseline (first week of April 2024),
- midline (last week of April 2024), and
- final (last week of May 2024).
