Punjab Budget 2024: Focus on Education
The Punjab government has allocated 11.5% of its total budget for education in 2024, amounting to ₹16,987 crore. This is a significant increase in education spending for the state. See live
The budget includes:
- ₹80 crore allocated for higher education
- ₹6 crore allocated for scholarship schemes
- ₹5 crore allocated for sanitary napkins
- ₹525 crore allocated for technical education
The government has also proposed setting up 118 Schools of Excellence, which will be government schools that focus on improving quality of education. An initial ₹100 crore has been allocated for these schools.
The budget also includes a ₹10 crore proposal for the Schools of Brilliance program, which aims to improve the quality of education in schools from grades 6 to 12.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦਾ ਬਜਟ 2024: ਸਿੱਖਿਆ 'ਤੇ ਫੋਕਸ
11.5 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬਜਟ
ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਪੱਧਰ ਉੱਚਾ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਲਈ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ 16 ਹਜ਼ਾਰ 987 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਬਜਟ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁੱਲ ਬਜਟ ਦਾ 11.5 ਫੀਸਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 118 ਸਕੂਲ ਆਫ਼ ਐਮੀਨੈਂਸ ਬਣਾਏ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ 15 ਸਕੂਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਲਈ 100 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਰੱਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਸਕੂਲ ਆਫ ਐਕਸੀਲੈਂਸ ਨੇ 10 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਤਜਵੀਜ਼ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ 6ਵੀਂ ਤੋਂ 12ਵੀਂ ਜਮਾਤ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਣਵੱਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਆਫ਼ ਅਪਲਾਈਡ ਲਰਨਿੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਦਸ ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਰੱਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਉਚੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ 80 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਰਾਖਵੇਂ ਰੱਖੇ ਹਨ। ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਸਕੀਮ ਲਈ ਛੇ ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਨੇਟਰੀ ਨੈਪਕਿਨ ਲਈ ਪੰਜ ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਰੱਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ 525 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਤਜਵੀਜ਼ ਰੱਖੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
