Indian Government Launches Website for Citizenship Applications Under CAA

India's central government has launched a web portal to allow applications for citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The portal, indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in: , is now open to refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan who are Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, or Christian and entered India before December 31, 2014.

To apply for citizenship, applicants will need to answer a few questions on the portal and pay a fee of 50 rupees. They will also need to submit a copy of one of nine documents from their respective countries. A mobile app for the CAA, "CAA-2019," is also expected to be launched soon.
