CHANDIGARH 26 JULY
The PUNJAB Government reviewed the workload of ADC (UD) in different districts and it is felt that the officers posted as ADC (UD) in many districts are underworked.
In order to rationalize the workload and to save avoidable administrative expenditure, a proposal regarding abolition of existing posts of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) at each district headquarter except at Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda and SAS Nagar, is under consideration of the State Government.
Govt decided that the powers currently with ADC (UD) in the remaining 17 districts will be devolved to ADC (G) or Commissioner Municipal Corporation of the respective district, as deemed appropriate. The memorandum regarding aforementioned proposal is likely to be placed in the forthcoming cabinet Meeting.
