(viii) Part-D have questions from 16 to 18 each of 6 marks and there is internal choice in all questions.

(ix) Questions related to geometry should be solved by drawing appropriate diagram.

  4. Write the reciprocal of 3 × (−7/9).

  5. The diagonals of rhombus are 7.5 cm and 12 cm. Find its area.

  6. A book marked at ₹ 791 is sold for ₹ 678. Find discount and discount percentage.

  7. One letter is selected from English alphabet. What is the probability that it is a vowel?

In this part each question is of 4 marks.

  1. Using factor method, divide (x² − x − 42) by (x + 6).

  2. Using suitable identity find the value of 61² − 39².

  3. A gardener has 1100 plant. He wants to plant these in such a way that number of rows and number of columns remains same. Find the minimum number of plants he need more for this.

  4. Preet is 6 year older than Abdul. Six year ago Preet’s age was four times Abdul’s age. Find their present ages.

OR

Solve the equation : 15(a − 4) − 2(a − 9) + 5(a + 6) = 0.

  1. Draw the graph for the value given in table below :

Side of square (in cm) : 3, 5, 6, 8
Perimeter (in cm) : 12, 20, 24, 32

  1. Picture of bacteria enlarged 60000 times attains a length of 3 cm. What is the length of bacteria if it is enlarged 10000 times only.

OR

A company requires 36 machines to make a product in 54 days. How many machines would be required to make the same product in 81 days.

  1. In the given figure PQRS is a rhombus, find x and y. 



OR

Two adjacent angles of a parallelogram are in the ratio 3 : 7. Find the measure of all the angles.

  1. Population of a town is 1,50,000. The annual birth rate is 5% and mortality rate is 3%. Find the population of town after 2 years.

OR

From a class of 60 students, 40% students like chess, 15% like carrom and remaining students like other games. Find the number of students who like carrom, chess and other games.

  1. A road roller takes 950 complete revolutions to move once over to level a road. Find the area of road levelled if the diameter of road roller is 48 cm and length is 1 m.

OR

Find the area of rhombus whose side is 5 cm and whose altitude is 4.8 cm. If one of its diagonal is 8 cm. Find the length of other diagonal.

  1. The marks obtained by 40 students of class VIII in an examination are given below :

18, 8, 12, 6, 8, 16, 12, 5, 23, 16, 2, 23, 7, 12, 20, 16, 9, 7, 5, 6, 5, 3, 13, 21, 13, 20, 15, 7, 1, 21, 20, 18, 13, 23, 15, 18, 7, 17, 16, 3

Prepare a frequency distribution using one of the class as 15–20. Draw histogram also.
