Educational Qualification & Age Limit (ਵਿੱਦਿਅਕ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਮਰ ਸੀਮਾ)
Educational Qualifications (ਿਵੱਿਦਅਕ ਯੋਗਤਾ)
All candidates must have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects. This is a mandatory requirement under Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services Rules, 1994.
The technical qualifications vary significantly for each post:
- Junior Engineer (Fisheries): Candidate must possess a three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University or Institution, or possess a higher qualification in the same discipline.
- Junior Engineer (Mechanical - Local Govt): Minimum Three Years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from State Technical Education Board or recognized University/Institute, OR Higher Qualification in the relevant discipline.
- Assistant Director Fisheries: This post has complex requirements, including multiple options:
- Master’s degree in Fisheries Science and 5 years minimum experience in development and management of Pisciculture. OR
- Master’s degree in Science with Zoology, 1 year training in Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture from an ICAR recognized Institution and 5 years minimum experience in development and management of Pisciculture. OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science and 7 years minimum experience in development and management of Pisciculture.
Note on Experience: Development and Management of Pisciculture ਦਾ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਅਦਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
- Senior Forensics Supervisor: Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science or equivalent. Plus, the candidate must have a minimum relevant work experience of thirteen years in any Government or Quasi-Government forensics Organization or Accredited Forensic Science Laboratory/Institute.
- Legal Advisor: Bachelor’s Degree in Law with a minimum of fifty percent marks or equivalent. Additionally, the candidate must have practiced at the Bar for a minimum period of twelve years.
All educational/technical qualification certificates must be issued prior to the final date of application.
Age Limit (ਉਮਰ ਸੀਮਾ) - Reference Date 01-01-2025
The age criteria are crucial for determining eligibility. The following limits apply based on Punjab Government instructions:
- General Category: 18 years to 37 years.
- SC and BC (Punjab Residents): Upper age limit is relaxed up to 42 years.
- State and Central Government Employees: Upper age limit is relaxed up to 45 years. Such employees must produce an NOC from their department during counseling.
- Widows, Divorcees, and certain categories of married women: The upper age limit is relaxed up to 40 years.
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM): The upper age limit calculation is done according to the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-servicemen Rules, 1982.

Salary Scale (ਤਨਖਾਹ ਸਕੇਲ)
All positions advertised under Advt-10-of-2025, including Junior Engineer, Assistant Director Fisheries, Senior Forensics Supervisor, and Legal Advisor, are offered a standardized pay scale.
The salary scale for all posts is ₹35400/- (As per the 7th Central Pay Scale). This scale is applicable along with other allowances as per the instructions issued by the Finance Department of the Punjab Government from time to time.
Selection Process & Merit Criteria (ਚੋਣ ਵਿਧੀ)
The selection process will primarily depend on performance in a written examination, followed by document verification (Counseling).
Written Examination (ਲਿਖਤੀ ਪੀਿਖਆ)
Successful applicants will be required to appear for an Objective Type (Multiple Choice Question - MCQ) written examination. The Merit List will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in this written examination.
Tie-Breaking Criteria (ਮੈਰਿਟ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰਤਾ)
If two or more candidates score equal marks in the written test, the following progressive tie-breaking rule will be applied:
- Age (ਜਨਮ ਮਿਤੀ): The candidate who is older (ਵੱਧ ਉਮਰ ਵਾਲੇ) will be ranked higher in merit.
- Educational Qualification Percentage (ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤਤਾ): If age is also equal, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in the requisite educational qualification will be ranked higher.
- Matric Marks (ਮੈਟ੍ਰਿਕ ਦੇ ਅੰਕ): If both the above criteria fail to resolve the tie, the candidate with higher marks in the Matriculation examination will be considered superior in merit.
Counseling and Final Recommendation
Candidates will be called for document verification/counseling based on the merit list. Appearing in the written exam or being called for counseling does not guarantee selection. The final recommendation to the concerned department is made only after the candidate successfully proves their eligibility and qualifications in every aspect.
How to Apply Online (ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਵਿਧੀ)
Application submission is strictly through Online Mode only via the official SSSB website. Applications received through any other method will be rejected.
Step-by-Step Application Guide:
- Visit the Official Website: Go to the official SSSB Punjab website:
https://sssb.punjab.gov.in. - Registration: Click on the "Online Applications" link. Candidates must first fill in their personal details and complete the registration.
- Login Details: Upon successful registration, a Username and Password will be generated. Use these credentials to log in again.
- Form Submission: Complete the Step-wise application form. Ensure all data regarding Category and Educational Qualifications is filled correctly, as no changes (ਸੋਧ) are permitted after final submission.
- Document Upload: Candidates must scan and upload their passport size photograph, signature, and required certificates (including Matriculation certificate for date of birth, technical qualifications, and category certificate). Required documents must be scanned and uploaded in PDF format (ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਫਾਇਲ ਿਵੱਚ).
