Election Commission Announces Bye-Elections in 8 Assembly Constituencies Across 7 States

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for bye-elections to fill vacancies in eight Assembly constituencies across Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, and Odisha.
The bye-elections will be held on November 11, 2025, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025. The entire election process will be completed by November 16, 2025.
According to the Commission, the vacancies arose due to resignations, disqualifications, or the demise of sitting MLAs. The affected constituencies include Budgam and Nagrota (J&K), Anta (Rajasthan), Ghatsila (Jharkhand), Jubilee Hills (Telangana), Tarn Taran (Punjab), Dampa (Mizoram), and Nuapada (Odisha).
The Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in all the concerned districts. The Election Commission confirmed that EVMs and VVPATs will be used in all polling stations, and arrangements are being made to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.
Voters can use EPIC cards or any of 12 approved identity documents, including Aadhaar, Driving License, PAN Card, or Passport.
The Commission also reiterated that candidates with criminal backgrounds must publicize their criminal records thrice during the campaign, in compliance with Supreme Court directions.
