Notification for General and Bye-Elections in Punjab

The Government of Punjab, Department of Local Government (Municipal Elections Branch), has issued a notification under Section 13-A of the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911. The Governor of Punjab has directed the conduct of general elections to elect members of Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats and bye-elections for certain wards. These elections are scheduled to be held by the end of December 2024.
General Elections
The general elections will be conducted in 44 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats across various districts in Punjab. Below are a few prominent locations:
- Raja Sansi (District: Amritsar)
- Baba Bakala Sahib (District: Amritsar)
- Dera Baba Nanak (District: Gurdaspur)
- Tarn Taran (District: Tarn Taran)
- Rampura Phul (District: Bathinda)
- Bhikhi (District: Mansa)
- Bagha Purana (District: Moga)
- Balachaur (District: Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar)
- Ghanaur (District: Patiala)
- Gharuan (District: SAS Nagar)

Bye-Elections
Bye-elections will be held in certain wards of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, covering various districts. Key highlights of the bye-elections are:
- Majitha (Amritsar): Wards 4 (SC), 13 (Women), 5 (SC), and 7 (Women).
- Bhikhiwind (Tarn Taran): Ward 13 (Women).
- Maur (Bathinda): Ward 1 (Women).
- Malout (Sri Muktsar Sahib): Ward 12.
- Kotkapura (Faridkot): Ward 21 (BC).
- Gobindgarh (Fatehgarh Sahib): Ward 26 (SC).
