Punjab Govt. Announces Gram Panchayat Elections to be Held by October 20, 2024
Chandigarh, 19 September 2024 ( Jobsoftoday) In a significant move, the Government of Punjab has officially scheduled the Gram Panchayat elections to be held by the 20th of October, 2024. This announcement was made through a notification issued by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats on September 19, 2024.

The notification, No. S.O.48/P.A.9/1994/S.209/2024, specifies that the decision has been made under the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 209 of the Punjab Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 (Punjab Act 9 of 1994). The act grants the Governor of Punjab the authority to direct such elections.
