National Teacher Awards 2024 Application Process

Introduction

The Punjab School Education Board has announced the application process for the National Teacher Awards 2024. Eligible teachers can apply online through the National Awards to Teachers website until July 15, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Educational Administrators, Inspectors of Education, and staff of training institutes are not eligible for these awards.
  2. Contractual Teachers and Shiksha Mitras are not eligible.
  3. Retired Teachers and those involved in private tuitions are also ineligible.

Application Process

  • Teachers must apply online at National Awards to Teachers before the deadline.
  • The District Selection Committee (DSC) will handle the application process and verify the details submitted by the applicants.

Major Functions of District Selection Committee (DSC)

  1. Physical verification of the facts/information provided by the applicant by forming verification teams.
  2. Evaluation/marking of the applicants as per the format at Annexure-I.
  3. Certification by the District Selection Committee that marks have been awarded after due verification of the facts.

Important Dates

  • Online application submission: Until July 15, 2024.
  • DSC to send verified applications to the National Teacher Award online portal: Until July 25, 2024.
  • Final selection by the Independent Jury: By August 4, 2024.
  • Final results announcement: By August 13, 2024.

Timeline for National Teachers’ Awards 2024

  1. Opening of web-portal for inviting online self-nomination by teachers: 27th June to 15th July 2024
  2. Shortlisting of teachers by District/Regional Selection Committee and forwarding the shortlist to the State/Organization Selection Committee through online portal: 16th July to 25th July 2024
  3. Constitution of Independent National Jury by Hon’ble Union Education Minister: Mid July 2024
  4. State Selection Committee/Organization Selection Committee shortlist to be forwarded to Independent National Jury through online portal: 26th July to 4th August 2024
  5. Intimation to all the shortlisted candidates (154 Max) for selection by Jury through VC interaction as may be decided: 5th & 6th August 2024
  6. Selection process by Jury through VC interaction as may be decided: 7th August to 12th August 2024
  7. Finalization of names by Independent National Jury: 13th August 2024
  8. Intimation to selected candidates after approval of Hon’ble Union Education Minister: 14th August to 20th August 2024
  9. Rehearsal & Presentation of Award: 4th & 5th September 2024

Evaluation Criteria

The selection of teachers for the awards will be done based on their performance in the following indicative areas:

  1. Innovative pedagogy and joyful learning
  • Using joyful activities like story-telling, arts, games, sports, examples, etc. to make education relatable, relevant, interesting, and effective.
  1. Use of technology for learning
  • Innovating and using cost-effective tech resources for enriching classroom learning.
  1. Learning material and mentorship
  • Creation of low-cost teaching learning materials and undertaking mentorship beyond classroom walls.
  1. Engagement of community
  • Mobilizing stakeholders in the community and engaging them in various school development activities.
  1. Governance
  • Strengthening school administration by adopting innovative measures.
  1. Delivery of FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy)
  • Adopting various strategies to improve foundational literacy and numeracy skills.

Objective Criteria (Maximum 10 Marks)

  1. Publications in international/national journals or books in the last 5 years (2 marks).
  2. Annual Performance Appraisal Reports of the last 3 years (2 marks).
  3. Regular attendance without complaints (1 mark).
  4. In-service training attendance (1 mark).
  5. Work done to increase enrollment and reduce dropouts (1 mark).
  6. Enrollment in SWAYAM or other MOOCs (1 mark).
  7. Development of e-contents, textbooks, and teacher handbooks for SCERTs, Boards, or NCERT (2 marks).

Performance Against Criteria (Maximum 90 Marks)

  1. Use of technology, innovative pedagogy, and joyful learning (30 marks).
  2. Learning material and mentorship (30 marks).
  3. Governance and engagement of community (30 marks).
