Schools in Punjab Gear Up for Heatwave Season 2024
The notice instructs schools to implement heatwave safety measures as prescribed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of India. These measures are to be communicated to students during morning assemblies, physical education classes, and regular classrooms sessions.
Heatwave Safety Tips for Students
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if not thirsty. Avoid sugary drinks and opt for coolers like buttermilk, lassi, or homemade lemonade.
Wear Light Clothing: Loose, light-colored, cotton clothes are ideal for hot weather. They allow for better air circulation and keep the body cooler.
Limit Sun Exposure: Avoid strenuous activities or playing outdoors during the hottest part of the day, typically between 12 :00 and 3 pm.
