• Governor Punjab reviews the progress of flagship schemes
• Expresses satisfaction over the performance of Rupnagar in Swachh Bharat Mission and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Saman Nidhi Yojana

The Governor of Punjab, Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, while reviewing the progress of the flagship schemes of GoI, expressed satisfaction over the significant improvement in the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) ranking of District Rupnagar and the commended district’s achievement of securing first place in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Saman Nidhi Yojana.
During the visit to District Rupnagar today, Punjab Governor held a special meeting with the senior officers of the district at Sutlej Sadan Nangal. Status of ten schemes namely Ayushman Bharat-Sarbatt Sehat Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban & Rural), Atal Bhujal Yojana-Jal Jeevan Mission, MGNREGS, PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, PM Awas Yojana (Gramin), Samagra Shiksha and Poshan Abhiyan was reviewed.
Governor approved of the efforts made by District Rupnagar in extending benefit of Samman Nidhi Yojana to maximum beneficiaries of the district and directed to implement all the schemes effectively, in the interest of people.
Deputy Commissioner Sonali Giri assured that comprehensive efforts would be made in the district to disseminate the benefit of schemes to the people and the work would be carried out in a mission mode.
Pertinently, District Rupnagar has significantly improved its ranking in Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). The ranking of Rupnagar has gone up from 40 to 12. Similarly, Nangal ranked 20 is now at 4, Sri Anandpur Sahib from 592 to 23, Kiratpur Sahib from 417 to 19, Chamkaur Sahib from 426 to 72 and Morinda has up-surged from 695 to 4 showing remarkable achievement in the direction of sanitation in urban areas.
