U-Turn! Punjab Govt Scraps Land Pooling Policy, Orders Reversal of All Actions
CHANDIGARH 11 AUGUST 2025 – In a significant and abrupt move, the Punjab government has officially withdrawn its Land Pooling Policy dated May 14, 2025. According to a press note issued by the Department of Housing & Urban Development, the policy, along with all its subsequent amendments, has been scrapped with immediate effect.
The decision is set to have major repercussions for landowners and developers who had engaged with the government under this framework. The official communication, signed by the Principal Secretary of the department, makes the government's stance clear.
The press note states, "Government hereby withdraws the Land Pooling Policy dated 14.05.2025 and its subsequent amendments. Consequently, all actions, like LOIs issued, registrations done or any other action taken thereunder shall be reversed henceforth."
This directive implies that all Letters of Intent (LOIs) that were granted and any property registrations completed under the policy are now considered null and void. The government has mandated a complete reversal of all actions undertaken since the policy's inception.
The brief notice did not specify the reasons behind this sudden withdrawal, leaving many stakeholders in a state of uncertainty.
