Punjab Cabinet Approves Key Initiatives for Border Security, Development, and Governance
Chandigarh, India 9 May ( JOBSOFTODAY) - In a recent cabinet meeting, the Punjab government approved a series of significant decisions aimed at bolstering border security, promoting industrial development, enhancing healthcare, and improving overall governance across the state.
Among the crucial approvals is the strengthening of border security with the allocation of additional resources for the Border Security Force (BSF). This move is expected to enhance vigilance and security along the state's borders.
INDUSTRYTo boost industrial growth, the cabinet sanctioned the transfer of Housing Department land to the Industry Department, specifically for the development of industrial areas. This initiative is anticipated to attract new investments and create employment opportunities.
RANGLA PUNJABA new 'Rangla Punjab Fund' has been established to facilitate voluntary donations for various development projects within the state. The fund will support initiatives in key sectors such as education, sports, and healthcare facilities.
MINIMUM SUPPORT PRICEIn a bid to diversify agriculture and support farmers, the government announced that it will purchase maize at Minimum Support Prices (MSP), particularly in the districts of Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Bathinda, Jalandhar, and Kapurthala.
MININGTo combat illegal mining, the cabinet has decided to implement AI technology developed by IIT Ropar for detection and prevention. This technological intervention aims to curb illegal activities and protect the state's resources.
Land pooling schemes are set to be implemented in various cities, offering landowners commercial and residential plots in exchange for their pooled land, facilitating planned urban development.
Old Pension SchemeThe Old Pension Scheme has been extended to employees who received their joining letters before 2014, addressing a long-standing demand from a section of government employees. Jobsoftoday
Ensuring the availability of essential supplies and preventing black marketing in border areas was also a key point of discussion and approval during the meeting.
REGULARISATION OF EMPLOYEESThe cabinet also gave its nod to reinstate and regularize approximately 900 employees in the Forest Department, providing job security to a significant number of workers.
In a humanitarian move, the 'Farishte' scheme, which provides free treatment to accident victims, will be expanded to include victims of war and terrorism, allowing them access to free medical care in any hospital.
To enhance security in correctional facilities, the installation of 5G jammers in 13 jails across the state was approved.
Additionally, the purchase of anti-drone technology was sanctioned to further secure the state's borders against potential aerial threats.
Finally, the cabinet reiterated its full support for the army and emphasized the importance of preventing panic and misinformation in border areas.
