India Extends USD 50 Million Financial Support to Maldives, Maldivian Foreign Minister Expresses Gratitude
New Delhi, May 12, 2025 ( Jobsoftoday ) - Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar for extending crucial financial support to the Maldives through the rollover of a USD 50 million Treasury Bill. This assistance, provided at the request of the Maldivian government, further strengthens the close friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Abdulla Khaleel stated, "I express my sincere gratitude to EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar and the Government of India for extending crucial financial support to the Maldives through the rollover of the USD 50 million Treasury Bill. This timely assistance reflects the close friendship between Maldives and India and will support the Government’s ongoing efforts to implement fiscal reforms for economic resilience."
This financial aid marks the second significant support extended by India to the Maldives this year. Earlier, in May 2024, India had also rolled over a USD 50 million Treasury Bill at the request of the Maldivian government. The support was subscribed by the State Bank of India (SBI), which took up the Treasury Bills issued by the Maldives' Ministry of Finance.
Highlighting the long-standing friendship between India and the Maldives, this assistance underscores India’s role as a reliable partner during times of need. Additionally, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his commitment to further strengthening the partnership with India.
This development reflects the deepening economic and diplomatic ties between India and the Maldives, sending a positive message to the people of both nations.

**ਮਾਲੇ, 12 ਮਈ 2025 ( ਜਾਬਸ ਆਫ ਟੁਡੇ) - ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਦੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਬਦੁੱਲਾ ਖਲੀਲ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡਾ. ਐਸ. ਜੈਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਨੂੰ 50 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਡਾਲਰ ਦੇ ਟਰੈਜ਼ਰੀ ਬਿੱਲ ਦੇ ਰੋਲਓਵਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤੀ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਬਦੁੱਲਾ ਖਲੀਲ ਨੇ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਪਲੇਟਫਾਰਮ ਐਕਸ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੋਸਟ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਮੈਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡਾ. ਐਸ. ਜੈਸ਼ੰਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਨੂੰ 50 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਡਾਲਰ ਦੇ ਟਰੈਜ਼ਰੀ ਬਿੱਲ ਦੇ ਰੋਲਓਵਰ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਮਿਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸੁਧਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਸਥਿਰਤਾ ਲਈ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ।"
ਇਹ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਦੂਜੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਈ 2024 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਨੇ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ 'ਤੇ 50 ਮਿਲੀਅਨ ਅਮਰੀਕੀ ਡਾਲਰ ਦੇ ਟਰੈਜ਼ਰੀ ਬਿੱਲ ਦਾ ਰੋਲਓਵਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਵਿਚਾਲੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਹ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਭਰੋਸੇਮੰਦ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ, ਮਾਲਦੀਵ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰਪਤੀ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਮੁਈਜ਼ੂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਭਾਰਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝੇਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਜਤਾਈ ਹੈ।
