Punjab Government Transfers 7 IAS Officers: Major Reshuffle in Key Departments

Chandigarh, April 14, 2025 – The Punjab Government has issued a significant reshuffle of seven IAS officers with immediate effect, according to the latest orders from the Department of Personnel, I.A.S. Branch. The changes were made on administrative grounds and aim to streamline governance and boost departmental efficiency.

Key Transfers Include:

1. Shri Basant Garg, IAS (2005 Batch)
   Transferred as the Administrative Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare. He has also been given additional charge of Secretary, Health & Family Welfare and Nodal Officer, Anti Drug Campaign, relieving Shri Rahul Tiwari, IAS of the additional charge.
2. Smt. Sonali Giri, IAS (2009 Batch)
   Will continue as Managing Director, PUNSUP, and has been given additional roles as Administrative Secretary-cum-Director, Civil Aviation and Secretary, Revenue & Rehabilitation.
3. Shri Kumar Amit, IAS (2010 Batch)
   Posted as Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, and also appointed Managing Director, MARKFED, replacing Shri Girish Dayalan, IAS.
4. Shri Amit Talwar, IAS (2013 Batch)
   Will continue as Managing Director, Punjab Health System Corporation, and has been assigned additional charges including Special Secretary, Good Governance & IT, Director, Good Governance & IT, and Executive Officer, Punjab State e-Governance Society, replacing Shri Girish Dayalan, IAS.
5. Smt. Hargunjit Kaur, IAS (2013 Batch)
   Transferred as Special Secretary, PWD (Buildings & Roads) and Secretary, Punjab Development Commission. She also gets additional charge of Special Secretary, Food Processing, Mission Director, Food Processing, and Managing Director, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Ltd, relieving Shri Kumar Amit, IAS.
6. Smt. Kalpana K., IFS (2014 Batch)
   Appointed as Additional Secretary, School Education, replacing Shri Charchill Kumar, IFS.
7. Shri Gurinder Singh Sodhi, PCS (2016 Batch)
   On repatriation from Chandigarh Administration, he is posted as Director, School Education (Secondary), Punjab.

Additional Notes:

• Shri Girish Dayalan, IAS (2011) shall report to the Secretary, Personnel. His new posting orders shall be issued separately.
• Shri Charchill Kumar, IFS (2000) shall report to the Department of Forests & Wildlife.
• All officers are directed to join their new place of posting immediately.
