**Punjab Government Appoints G. Nageswara Rao as Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau**
**Chandigarh, India ( Jobsoftofay)– The Government of Punjab has announced a reshuffle in its top bureaucracy, appointing Shri G. Nageswara Rao, a 1995 batch IPS officer, as the new Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab. The order, issued by the Department of Home Affairs on February 17, 2025, signifies a change in leadership at the state's apex anti-corruption body.
Shri G. Nageswara Rao, who was previously serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Provisioning, Punjab, will now take over the charge from Shri Varinder Kumar, a 1993 batch IPS officer. Shri Varinder Kumar, who held the position of Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) and Chief Director, Vigilance Bureau, has been relieved from his responsibilities as Chief Director.
According to the official order, Shri Varinder Kumar has been directed to report to the Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarh, following his relinquishment of the Chief Director role.
The order, officially endorsed by Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs, mentions that it has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
