Ans. Phatik’s mother, his uncle, and aunt are responsible for his death. His mother was always angry with him. That made him leave his home. Bishamber did not realize that a child of fourteen could not live without his mother. And at last, his aunt’s behavior broke his heart.


3. Write a character-sketch of Phatik.

Ans. He was a fourteen-year-old boy. He was the leader among the boys of his village. He always thought of new mischiefs. While at his aunt’s home, he is ill-treated by his aunt. He wants to go back to his home. But he dies after a serious illness.


**TRANSLATION**


1. Phatik refused to move. ਫਟਿਕ ਨੇ ਹਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।


2. He could not bear this injustice. ਉਹ ਇਹ ਅਨਿਆਇ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਿਆ।


3. One day Phatik lost his lesson book. ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਫਟਿਕ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਾਠ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਗੁਆ ਲਿਆ।


4. The next morning Phatik was nowhere to be seen. ਅਗਲੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਫਟਿਕ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ।


5. Bhishamber brought in a doctor. ਭਿਸ਼ੰਬਰ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ।


6. At last Bhishamber asked the police to help him. ਆਖਿਰ ਭਿਸ਼ੰਬਰ ਨੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕੋਲ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ।


7. The boys were puzzled for a moment. ਲੜਕੇ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਲਈ ਉਲਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਗਏ।


8. Phatik Chakravarti was the ring-leader amongst the boys of the village. ਫਟਿਕ ਚਕ੍ਰਵਰਤੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਖੀ ਸੀ।


9. The stranger asked him again. ਅਜਨਬੀ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ।
