Punjab braces for storms, heavy rain and colder temperatures

ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿਭਾਗ (IMD) ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਲਈ ਅਲਰਟ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਗਲੇ 72 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਤੂਫਾਨ, ਭਾਰੀ ਮੀਂਹ ਅਤੇ ਠੰਡੇ ਤਾਪਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਗੜਬੜੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ 10 ਮਾਰਚ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਹਿਮਾਲਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਟਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਆਈਐਮਡੀ ਨੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੰਮੂ-ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ, ਲੱਦਾਖ, ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਖੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ 10 ਤੋਂ 12 ਮਾਰਚ ਦਰਮਿਆਨ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਬਰਫ਼ਬਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
ਆਈਐਮਡੀ ਨੇ ਹਿਮਾਚਲ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼, ਉੱਤਰਾਖੰਡ, ਹਰਿਆਣਾ, ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਰਿਸ਼ ਲਈ ਅਲਰਟ ਵੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੰਨਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਗਲੇ 60 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤਰੀ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਰਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਜ਼ ਤੂਫ਼ਾਨ, ਮੀਂਹ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਬਰਫ਼ਬਾਰੀ ਦੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਸਨੀਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਠੰਡੇ ਤਾਪਮਾਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for Punjab, warning of storms, heavy rain and colder temperatures over the next 72 hours. The weather change is due to a western disturbance that is expected to collide with the western Himalayas on March 10.
The IMD predicts that Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will see fresh snowfall between March 10 and 12.
The high for today in Patiala was 26 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana reached 23 degrees Celsius, Pathankot 25.6 degrees Celsius and Faridkot 23.5 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has also issued an alert for rain in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab. They believe that the next 60 hours will see strong storms, rain and heavy snowfall across these northern Indian states. This could lead to difficulties for farmers and colder temperatures for residents.
