District Administration Ludhiana fully geared up in tackling any flood like situation: Deputy Commissioner
Issues general advisory to residents to be careful, avoid congested/waterlogged areas unless necessary & no need for panic
Ludhiana, July 9:
Due to heavy rain in the past 2 days in the entire state and catchment areas of HP; the flow of waters in Rivers and Canals have increased.
District Administration Ludhiana is fully geared to tackle any flood like situation. Teams of Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and XEN Drainage are working tirelessly to ensure that there is no water-logging in the city and district respectively.
Water has been released from Ropar Headworks which will be reaching Ludhiana Satluj by about noon. The nearby panchayats are advised to stay on alert and that no one should go near the embankments.
In addition, due to increased level of flow in Budhha Dariya, the vigil has been increased specifically at low lying areas and houses/jhuggis on the banks of the Dariya.
All teams are on standby; all revenue functionaries are getting munadi done and identifying high ground for relief camps if needed. District Administration is also tying up with NGOs/Industrial associations/ Gurudwaras for immediate help, if needed.
The District Administration Ludhiana have also tied up with all relief agencies like NDRF, have inventorized all equipment and staff and are tying up with NHAI and PWD to handle water logging on roads.
