D2M ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਐਕਟਿਵ ਇੰਟਰਨੈਟ ਕਨੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਫੋਨ 'ਤੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਲਟੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਬਰਾਡਬੈਂਡ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਡਕਾਸਟਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਸੁਮੇਲ (combination)ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਫ਼ੋਨ ਇੱਕ ਡਿਜੀਟਲ ਟੀਵੀ ( Digital TV ) ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
ਇਹ ਮੋਬਾਈਲਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਐਫਐਮ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰਣ ਲਈ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੈ। ਫੋਨ 'ਤੇ ਮਾਊਂਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਰਿਸੀਵਰ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਫ੍ਰੀਕੁਐਂਸੀ ਬੈਂਡ ਨੂੰ ਕੈਪਚਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ D2M ਤਕਨੀਕ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਲਟੀਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ, ਵੀਡੀਓ ਆਦਿ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਫੋਨ 'ਤੇ ਭੇਜੇਗਾ।
ਫ੍ਰੀਕੁਐਂਸੀ ਬੈਂਡ 526-582 MHz ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰੌਡਕਾਸਟਰ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਚਾਰ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਬੈਂਡ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰਣ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਟੀਵੀ ਟ੍ਰਾਂਸਮੀਟਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

What is D2M Technology?
D2M technology allows the transmission of video and other multimedia content directly to the mobile phone without an active Internet connection. It is based on a combination of broadband and broadcasting, using which the mobile phone will act like a digital TV.
It is very similar to the technology used for FM radio broadcasting on mobiles. The receiver mounted on the phone will capture the radio frequency band and then send multimedia content, videos etc. directly to the phone via D2M technology.
The frequency band 526-582 MHz is used for establishing communication in mobile and broadcaster services. Presently this band is being used by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for TV transmitters.
Benefits of D2M
Advantages of Direct-to-Mobile Technology - "This service will be provided at a very low charge. Through this, people will be able to watch video content even in rural areas where internet access is not present or limited."
Using this, you will be able to access the content of Video On Demand or OTT platforms and for this no mobile internet data will be spent.
In areas where there is no internet access or limited access, the technology will help the customer in accessing multimedia content. It can also be used to broadcast live sports and news on mobile phones.
