Heatwave Continues in Punjab, Schools Change Timings

Punjab is in the midst of a severe heatwave, with temperatures exceeding 46 degrees Celsius (114 degrees Fahrenheit) in some parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heatwave conditions in several districts, including Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda, and Mansa. A red alert has been issued for the remaining 19 districts.

The heatwave is expected to last until May 23, with no relief in sight. The Punjab government has taken steps to mitigate the effects of the heatwave, including changing the timings of schools. Schools will now start early in the morning and finish earlier in the afternoon 12: 00 am

The IMD has advised people to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid strenuous activity. People are also advised to wear loose, light-colored clothing and to wear a hat and sunglasses when going outdoors.
