PSTET candidates demand grace marks for disputed questions

Ferozepur, September 3, 2021: The candidates who appeared in Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test taken on January 19, 2020, have demanded grace marks for the disputed questions before starting the selection procedure for teachers.

Divulging with details, Dushyant Chawla and others said, the Punjab Government had conducted Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test-1 on 19th January 2020 and a few days later the department had posted the answer key on the website which found that the answers to 9-10 questions were incorrect and 1-2 questions.

They said, there were also questions, whose answer was something else according to the Punjabi vocabulary and the English vocabulary and no one could choose the right answer. However, in the result announced on March 23, 2020, the department gave only 2-3 marks in the form of grace. Due to which many students were disqualified from that paper with 3-4 marks.

The candidates further said, we have approached the government and sent emails also to the CM and Education Minister but no action has been taken to date. Students from different districts of Punjab have also filed cases in the court in this regard and the court has repeatedly asked the department to investigate the matter but so far there is no progress. This has resulted in mental stress among the candidates, they added.

Making an appeal to the government, they said, the concerned department should properly examine the case so that the maximum number of candidates could get a chance to apply for 6635 posts for ETT pass-outs.
