Samana City Classified Under Category ‘C’; Government Employees to Receive 10% House Rent Allowance

The Government of Punjab, Department of Finance (Finance Personnel-1 Branch), has issued an important notification regarding the reclassification of Samana city for the purpose of House Rent Allowance (HRA).
According to the latest order, Samana city has now been officially placed under Category ‘C’. As a result, all government employees posted in Samana will be entitled to House Rent Allowance at the rate of 10% of their basic pay.
The order has been issued in continuation of an earlier government letter dated 18 October 2021, and takes effect immediately from the date of issuance.

Special Chief Secretaries, Additional Chief Secretaries, and Financial Commissioners

Principal Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries to the Government of Punjab

Heads of all Departments

Commissioners of Divisions

Registrar, Punjab and Haryana High Court

All Deputy Commissioners and District & Sessions Judges

Secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha
The directive has been signed by the Under Secretary, Department of Finance, and copies have been forwarded to the Accountant General (Audit) and Accountant General (A&E), Punjab.
This decision is expected to benefit a large number of government employees serving in Samana, ensuring uniformity with other cities under the 6th Punjab Pay Commission HRA structure.
