Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the specified eligibility criteria regarding age and academic qualifications as of the dates mentioned.

A. Age Limit (as on 01.04.2025)

  • The candidate must not be below 21 years and not above 30 years as of April 1, 2025.
  • This implies the candidate must have been born not later than 01.04.2004 and not earlier than 02.04.1995 (both days inclusive).
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.

B. Essential Academic Qualifications (as on 30.09.2025)

  • A candidate must hold a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Candidates who are in the Final Year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally. However, if called for an interview, they must produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before September 30, 2025.
  • Candidates with professional qualifications like Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, etc., are also eligible.

Application Fee and Intimation Charges

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online.

  • Unreserved / EWS / OBC candidates: ₹750/-
  • SC / ST / PwBD candidates: 'Nil'

Selection Procedure

The selection for Probationary Officers is a three-phase process.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

An online objective test for 100 marks with a duration of 1 hour. There will be separate timings for each section.

Note: There will be no sectional cut-off in the preliminary examination. A penalty of 1/4th of the marks assigned will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Phase-II: Main Examination

The main exam is conducted online and consists of an Objective Test (200 marks) and a Descriptive Test (50 marks).

Phase-III: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise & Interview

Candidates shortlisted after Phase-II will be called for Phase-III.

  • Psychometric Test: A test for personality profiling of the candidates.
  • Group Exercise & Interview: This carries a total of 50 marks.
    • Group Exercise: 20 Marks
    • Interview: 30 Marks

Final Selection

The final merit list will be prepared by aggregating the marks from Phase-II (Main Exam) and Phase-III. The marks from Phase-I (Prelims) will not be considered for the final selection. The final scores will be normalized to 100.

Salary and Emoluments

  • The starting basic pay is ₹48,480/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920.
  • The official will also be eligible for DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC, Medical Facility, and other allowances as per rules.
  • The approximate Cost to Company (CTC) at the initial scale of pay at Mumbai Centre is ₹20.43 Lacs.
