    Dharam Dev Pishorimal Anand (26 September, 1923-3 December, 2011) better known as Dev Anand, was an Indian film actor, writer, director, and producer. He is known for work in Hindi cinema. He co-founded Navketan Films in 1949 with his elder brother Chetan Anand. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002 for his contribution to Indian cinema. His career spanned more than 65 years. He acted in 114 films. In 104 he played the main solo lead hero. In his childhood, he was a very shy boy. He did his schooling till matriculation from Sacred Heart School, Dalhousie. On his mother’s request, Dev’s father gave him the finest education. Dev graduated from Government College Lahore. For higher education, he wanted to go to England. But the funds that his father had fallen on bad days. So, his father offered him to do his master’s degree from Government college Lahore and work as a clerk in a bank. Dev declined this offer.
