WHAT IS PATERNITY LEAVE FOR PUNJAB GOVT EMPLOYEES?
Paternity Leave for Punjab Govt employees: A male government - employee having less than two surviving children, may be granted Paternity leave up to maximum of 15 days (after commuting 30 days of half pay leave).
Punjab Govt letter Regarding PATERNITY LEAVE
Punjab Govt has issued a notification (Letter) Number 1/10/90-3PP.2/ 3187 on dated 9/4/2002 regarding paternity leave for male government employees
According to the notification," a male Government Emplyee (with less than two surviving children), on his request, may be granted paternity leave for maximum fifteen days (after commuting his 30 days half pay leave), during the confinement of his wife. This leave should normally be not refused
2. This order takes effect from the date of issue of this letter.
3. Suitable amendment in the Punjab Civil Service Rules will be made in due course.

What is CSR RULE FOR Paternity Leave, and who can take PATERNITY LEAVE? At what time PATERNITY LEAVE can be availed?
As per rule 8.128 of the ibid, PATERNITY leave shall be admissible during the confinement of Male government employee's wife for childbirth upto 15 days before or upto 15 days after the date of delivery of the child.
Can PATERNITY LEAVE will be debited to leave account?
Yes, A male government employee who will avail paternity leave will have to deduct 30 half pay leaves from his leave account by commuting those 15 days.
